Tacoma Power's Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Section is seeking a Transmission & Distribution Substation Engineer (Associate Power Systems Engineer) to act as a substation engineer in support of Tacoma Power's mission to provide safe and reliable electric service. In this role you will be responsible for large, complex, high budget projects within Tacoma Power substations.
The Associate Power Systems Engineer is a key technical member of the Substation Engineering group. The incumbent is charged with accomplishing large, moderately complex, high budget projects within Tacoma Power substations. Duties include design, project management, equipment procurement, construction crew support, and system troubleshooting. Work is often performed under the guidance of a licensed Professional Engineer.
Responsibilities:
Take responsibility for design, project management, and commissioning of substation capital improvement projects
Be responsible for procurement of major and minor substation assets or components
Lead collaborative troubleshooting of substation systems or components with C&M crews
Work with craft personnel to identify and diagnose root causes, evaluate approaches and/or solutions, and see tasks through to completion
Provide responsive construction support to T&D crews during capital project installations

Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
AS ASSIGNED: North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection certification (NECC-CIP) within established time-frame.
AS ASSIGNED: Washington State Driver's License
