Seeking a Full-Time Commissioning Test Engineer for a Sound Transit (ST) LRV2 Project. Candidate will provide test witnessing oversight of contractor’s rail vehicle commissioning and acceptance testing between two ST project sites in Seattle and Bellevue, Washington. Candidate must have prior experience in railcar testing or railcar systems / equipment testing. Any experience in project management and QA is a plus. Responsibilities include interfacing with the contractor and client and writing reports documenting test witnessing.
Candidate assumes the following functional responsibilities and must possess experience in these areas:
Review testing plans / test procedures submittals and Requests for Information (RFI), as directed and provide input.
Interpret plans, specifications and other contract documents to ensure work compliance.
Assist in coordination of contractor’s railcar commissioning and acceptance testing activities.
Witness static functional and dynamic car testing by the contractor; identify any failures / issues and recommend corrective action to the client.
Witness, inspect and track various field modifications performed on the vehicles
Review and report on the contractor’s work progress, including materials, manpower and equipment.
Perform fleet wide surveys as requested, record and track any and all non-conformance occurrences
Attend contractor and client progress meetings and prepare reports as directed.
Coordinate interfaces with other contractors / suppliers, as needed.
Provide technical / project administration support, as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned
5-7 years of combined engineering, testing and supervisory experience on rail vehicle projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.
Self-starter, able to step into the position with minimum job orientation.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Excellent working knowledge of industry practices/safety/quality management systems.
Familiarity with the transit rail industry standards.
Ability to effectively address and resolve project related issues.
High integrity, detail oriented, and flexibility to travel.
Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
