Traffic Engineer/ Assistant Traffic Engineer Applications are now being accepted for the position of Traffic Engineer or Assistant Traffic Engineer in the Traffic Engineering Department at Ada County Highway District in the Boise, Idaho area. This is a fulltime, exempt position with a starting salary of $64,688 - $83,408 / DOQ. This position is eligible for a Sign on Bonus! Primary Responsibilities: • Under the direction of the Traffic Engineering Supervisor, the Traffic Engineer performs, prepares, and reviews complex traffic engineering studies, including accident analysis, traffic planning, impact analyses, transportation modeling, intersection design, signal design, traffic operations/safety analysis, computer analyses, neighborhood traffic management, parking studies, and/or site development analysis. • The Traffic Engineer directs and approves the development of solutions to traffic safety and traffic flow problems; serves as traffic representative on study teams for area and corridor transportation studies directed by the Planning/Programs Dept; serves as traffic liaison to Idaho Transportation Department for issues regarding agency or development projects and serves as project team member for selected capital projects. • Under the supervision of the Traffic Engineering Supervisor, the Assistant Traffic Engineer performs traffic engineering studies related to traffic calming measures and traffic control devices; performs and directs the collection and analysis of data such as traffic volume and speed; investigates and resolves traffic related problems and complaints; designs lane configurations and markings, safety signage and other traffic related facilities. • The Assistant Traffic Engineer performs a variety of engineering duties, including project team member for selected capital projects, technical guideline development, intersection capacity analysis and technical investigations. Qualifications: • The successful candidate must have considerable knowledge of traffic engineering principles and practices, traffic signal design and operations, and of construction and maintenance practices. The successful candidate must have proven verbal and written communication skills. AutoCad or other related computer-aided drawing software experience is a plus. • Traffic Engineer: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering field is required. Registered Professional Engineer in Idaho within one year is required. • Assistant Traffic Engineer: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related Engineering field is required. Possession of an active Idaho Engineer Intern (EI) certificate within one year is required. • OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience may be acceptable.
