The Manager of Substation Operations is responsible for overseeing and directing all functions relating to the engineering, construction, maintenance and operation of electric substations as well as the engineering, testing, maintenance, and operation of the electric system protective and metering systems. Responsibilities include working with the AGM -- Delivery to establish goals and criteria for the successful and reliable protection of the electric power system in compliance with NERC and FRCC reliability standards. Performance is reviewed for effectiveness through reports, communication, and results obtained. Work involves planning, coordinating and supervising the daily activities of the Substation group (System Protection Engineering & Relaying, Energy Management System, and Substation Engineering & Operations). The primary function is to provide the leadership and direction needed for the effective planning, organization and deployment of resources used in the Substation group.
Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a degree in engineering.
Ten (10) years of combined experience in Substation Engineering, Substation Construction/Maintenance/Operations, and/or System Protection.
Five (5) years in supervisory positions.
Two (2) years of experience in NERC's Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) compliance.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provide the knowledge, skills and abilities and other competencies necessary for success in the target position may be considered.
