The Precision Medicine Program at Midwestern University’s Glendale, Arizona and Downers Grove, Illinois campuses invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, available in the 2022/2023 academic year. This 12-month position in the College of Graduate Studies is supported by a competitive salary and benefits package, and is fully funded by the institution. Applicants must have earned a PhD or equivalent degree with at least two years of postdoctoral experience and a strong commitment to excellence in the teaching of future healthcare professionals. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
We are seeking outstanding individuals dedicated to effective teaching and research in order to prepare our graduates to be leaders capable of providing the most advanced precision medical care to patients. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong and current genetics/genomics background. Bioinformatics skills are a plus. Previous experience with online teaching is desirable but not required. The ideal candidate would also have significant research experience in a relevant area such as genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, pharmacogenomics, proteomics, metabolomics, biomarker discovery, or microbiome studies, with the intention to address important biological problems.
This position involves a significant amount of teaching with highly motivated professional students, but also offers the opportunity to develop a strong research program and to engage in other scholarly activities. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an independent research program with the potential for attracting extramural funding. Midwestern University has an active research community with diverse interests that provide ample opportunity for collaborative research. A start-up package, office and research space, core facilities, and technical support will be provided.
This position is available on either our Downers Grove, Illinois campus (near Chicago) or on our Glendale, Arizona campus (near Phoenix), at the preference of the applicant.
