The Department of Pathology & Immunology at Washington University in St. Louis is seeking an Associate/Assistant Director of Clinical Laboratory Genetics.
The successful candidate will join a team of clinical laboratorians in the Division of Laboratory and Genomic Medicine providing a broad range of genetic and genomic testing in an academic medical center. The WUSM Cytogenetics and Molecular Pathology Laboratory offers chromosomal microarray, fluorescence in situ hybridization, and karyotype analysis for constitutional and acquired conditions. The Clinical Constitutional Genomics service offers an expanding menu of NGS-based testing for inherited conditions as well as disorders of somatic mosaicism, with whole-exome and genome assays in development. There will also be opportunities to participate in the services provided by Clinical and Translational Genomics, which supports a range of projects across the medical center. The division works collaboratively with clinical colleagues in the Departments of Genetics, Pediatrics, and Medicine. This role includes participation in medical director oversight including test development and quality assurance programs across these clinical services as well as case sign-out. The successful candidate will be involved in teaching a variety of learners from across the institution, including fellows in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics as well as Molecular Genetic Pathology. In addition, individuals are encouraged to develop research programs and collaborations leveraging resources within the department.
Candidates must possess a M.D. and/or Ph.D. and be board-certified or board-eligible in laboratory genetics and genomics or clinical molecular genetics and cytogenetics. A successful candidate will have experience in validation and implementation of new laboratory methods, excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiasm for teaching, and a collaborative attitude. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.
