The "Project Employee Position" is a full-time, temporary position with benefits, for work on the Phase 2 Los Vaqueros Reservoir Expansion Project (LVE Project). The position is anticipated to last for a term of 3 to 5 years and possibly longer. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Duties performed by employees in the Associate Water Resources Specialist classification may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Conduct research and perform complex analyses of immediate and long-term water supply and water quality relationships; develop analytical modeling tools; conduct complex mathematical/computer analyses of current and future water resource and proposed transfer facilities; prepare alternative and recommended solutions to provide a high quality source of supply.
Assemble, analyze and evaluate data on the effects of water diversions, pollutant discharges, water and land use development patterns, and other environmental issues; serve as engineering project manager as assigned.
Review and analyze environmental and other engineering documents, providing technical support to other Departments and projects; coordinate assigned activities with other District divisions and sections and outside agencies and groups as appropriate.
Conduct research and analyses and prepare related exhibits and testimony for various hearing bodies; present expert witness testimony of a technical nature as directed.
Represent the District, as directed, and participate in/make presentations at workshops, technical meetings and conferences with various public agencies, community groups, educational and research institutions, and consultant organizations.
Conduct special research and prepare studies, including alternative, feasibility and economic studies; prepare staff reports; prepare correspondence and establish and maintain appropriate records and files.
Research publications and information sources; maintain up-to-date knowledge of current technical, policy and legislation impacting District water resource concerns.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other County employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
EDUCATION: Equivalent to a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering, water resource planning, environmental management or a related field.
EXPERIENCE: Three years of responsible professional experience in water resource planning or civil engineering related to water systems and facilities, including project management experience.
