Engineer / Surveyor / Engineering Technician Fort Collins, Colorado
Ducks Unlimited, Inc., the world’s leading wetland and waterfowl conservation organization, is seeking a self-motivated, engineer or engineering technician / surveyor to be headquartered out of our Fort Collins, Colorado Field Office. The successful applicant will join a highly motivated conservation team dedicated toward accomplishing DU’s mission in the areas of Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska. Assignments in surrounding states could also occur. Responsibilities will include assisting the Regional Engineer with surveys, drafting, and construction management, on wetland, riparian, and associated habitat restoration projects. The successful applicant will be responsible for scheduling and completing surveys, preliminary reconnaissance of design data, drafting of engineering plans, and close monitoring of projects under construction. A close working relationship with local, state and federal personnel, private landowners, and other conservation partners will be an important aspect of the job.
Assist surveyors in topographic survey and construction staking. Ability to perform topographic survey and construction staking without supervision within 6 months
Conduct field inspections and perform construction management oversight to verify contractor’s compliance with plans, specifications, and standards
Draft construction plans on civil type projects
Generate topographic maps using AutoCAD Civil 3D software
Perform quantity calculations for civil type projects
Requires a B.S. in Engineering, Construction Management, Surveying, or Associates Degree in Civil Engineering Technology with experience preferred
Proficient in using AutoCAD Civil 3D for the drafting of civil projects is desirable
GPS Survey experience desirable
Construction inspection experience desirable
Ability to operate an ATV
Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, work independently, travel overnight, work in inclement weather and ability to work with minimal supervision in remote work environments
