About Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates
Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates is a multi-specialty engineering firm with advanced capabilities in geotechnical and geostructural engineering, environmental consulting, specialty construction, construction materials engineering and testing, and third-party inspections. If there’s construction, we’re there — schools, stadiums, highways, housing developments — in any location throughout the Mid-Atlantic and beyond. Some firms rely on their junior staff in the field to collect the data, while the engineers in the office wait for the numbers. With our approach you’ll also see division heads and senior engineers on site, studying and testing the conditions first-hand and getting their data unfiltered. Our recommendations are based on real-world conditions and decades of experience, which give us the ability to recommend exactly what an individual project requires rather than a one-size-fits-all (and more expensive than necessary) solution. We believe in value engineering: Safe, high-performing and lasting recommendations with cost-savings built in.Our depth of services let us see the big picture, while nearly 30 years in the field has trained us to pay attention to the details that... matter most. From small residential projects to billion-dollar high-stakes projects, we’ve seen it all. Plus, we’ve handled the most complex soil conditions in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. When challenges arise, we already know how to solve the problem efficiently and effectively, with a highly competent team of people you can trust and count on.
