We are seeking a R&D Statistician to join our team to conduct high quality interdisciplinary research across the lab. You would work on interdisciplinary teams to provide statistical expertise on data collection and analysis, methodology development, and applied statistical research. On any given day, you may be called on to conduct and manage technical work and lead interdisciplinary teams in developing and implementing innovative statistical solutions to challenging National security problems.

MS degree in statistics or relevant field plus 3 years of experience or PhD in statistics or relevant field
Publication record indicative of relevant research expertise
Strong interest in or demonstrated capacity to team in an interdisciplinary R&D environment
Experience and comfort collaborating with scientists from varied backgrounds with a preference for experience working in an engineering environment
Demonstrated ability to acquire, prepare, and characterize real-world data for subsequent analysis
Experience dealing with computer models or complex mathematical models representing physical phenomenon and the associated statistical methodologies for uncertainty quantification in such models.
Knowledge of approaches for calibration of computer model parameters.
Knowledge of approaches for Bayesian computation such as MCMC, INLA and/or implementations in Stan/Nimble
Exposure to Gaussian processes and model discrepancy
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.
Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
