The MIT Facilities Engineering Group (FEG) has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer to provide mechanical engineering and direction for project managers, operations staff, and outside consultants for MIT’s 160+ buildings on campus. This includes steam and chilled water distribution in and to the buildings, automatic temperature control systems (building management systems), HVAC systems, and other mechanical components of the buildings and campus facilities. Will provide mechanical engineering coordination with the Utilities Division for steam and chilled water plants and distribution systems; and provide assistance to other engineers with primary responsibility for electrical, fire protection, plumbing, and wastewater systems. Will also provide support to the development and implementation of MIT's energy efficiency goals.

B.S. in mechanical engineering and a minimum of ten years’ experience as a P.E.
Experience with HVAC systems design, construction, and maintenance; ATC systems and control; and energy auditing and design required.
Extensive experience in the development of energy-based projects including ASHRAE Audit Level II experience and with the design of energy conservation measures is also required.
Project management experience in energy projects is desirable.
Must be able to work collaboratively, influence and serve individuals outside the chain of command, and function in a team-based environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills will also be needed to effectively deal with a range of customers, including students, administrators, professors, trades people, senior management, etc.
