Vice President of Technical Services for D&L Oil Tools Reports to the Vice President of Operations
Summary of Duties:
Directs Technical Director in technical support for D&L customers.
Directs Technical Director in technical support for D&L Purchasing.
Directs Technical Director in development of technical and sales information.
Directs Technical Director in training new engineers.
Manage mandatory department trainings including, but not limited to:
the efficient use of department equipment,
precision measurement equipment,
the BMS policy,
Handle any employee questions or complaints including, but not limited to, vacation, personal time, pay, etc. Work alongside the area supervisor, Manufacturing Manager, or HR as required.
Evaluates viability of new designs.
Evaluates viability of maintenance and updates of current designs.
Support all company-wide certification processes, such as ISO, API, any audits, customer visits, or other requirements, in order to continue the successful company growth and positive customer relationships.
Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends, or holidays, to support production requirements.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Bachelors of Science in Engineering or 8 years Design Drafting, 5 years Senior Design Engineer.
Fifteen years equipment design.
Fifteen years design calculation experience.
Applicable experience to perform the primary tasks of the job required.
Requires strong computer skills, including MASS, Outlook, Excel, Word
Prefer candidates experienced with AutoCAD.
Ability to read and understand complex blueprints.
Ability to understand written or oral instructions, safety rules, company policies, government requirements, etc.
Ability to write technical reports, work instructions, job descriptions, procedures, policies, etc., using correct terminology, spelling, punctuation, language, etc.
Work effectively and efficiently with a diverse workforce, including shop employees, your supervisor, support personnel, and management.
Maintain confidentiality on various subjects such as wages and disciplinary actions.
Ability to train employees in safe and efficient production.
Ability to impartially enforce company rules, policies, or government requirements, using training, coaching, or disciplinary action as required.
Occasionally may handle and lift material up to 25 pounds.
Exposure to heat, cold, dust, and noise, oil or coolant mist is routine. May need to make frequent trips outdoors which can cause exposure to pollens, allergens, etc.
Requires work from a desk, but also frequent standing or walking to monitor production or employees at machines. Frequent use of both hands/arms, possibly working with employees to help diagnose a problem, etc. Precise dexterity needed with both hands to help an employee on a machine, or with tooling, or for use of delicate precision measurement equipment. Occasional stooping or climbing is required. Frequent use of both hands/arms, typing data, or reports, or possibly hand writing reports.
Must have good close-up and distance vision as machines or control may have fine-print that must be read accurately. Measurement equipment may have small print, or fine graduations that must be read accurately. Computer, blueprints, or other documents may have some small print that must be read accurately.
Must be able to hear, understand, and provide verbal instructions, in everyday and emergency situations.
