Salary: $89,225 - 161,216 Annually, negotiable depending on qualifications

Hours: 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday - Friday
Other: Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
THIS IS AN AT-WILL POSITION.
Assists the Director in managing and coordinating functions within the Traffic Engineering Division. Develops and administers programs for determining the long-range traffic impacts of development on the County roadway system. Assists in directing traffic engineering operations involving the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of traffic control devices including signals, signs, and pavement marking. Designs and evaluates traffic engineering studies for traffic volumes, speeds, accidents, traffic signal warrants and traffic ordinances. Coordinates and prepares inter-local agreements; administers federal and state grants; interacts with the public, elected officials and municipal representatives; provides liaison and review for engineering consultants and other County departments and divisions. Coordinates and reviews technical aspects of the work as designated by the Division Director.

Bachelor's Degree in Traffic Engineering or related field; minimum of five (5) years of experience in all aspects of traffic engineering including two (2) years of experience in the supervisory aspects of the work. Equivalency: Related Master’s Degree and four (4) years of experience including two (2) years of experience in the supervisory aspects of the work.
Necessary Special Requirement: Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida or the ability to obtain licensure by endorsement within 12 months of hire.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE WITH: Traffic operations including traffic signals, signing and pavement markings; Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS); land development regulations; long-range planning; traffic impact studies.
