The Tissue Engineering Research Group within the School of Medicine focusses on the development of next-generation implants by combining nanotechnology and tissue engineering methods, with a focus on living, cardiovascular devices for the treatment of both paediatric and adult populations, in addition to in vitro models of cardiovascular disease and cancer. Applications are invited for a 36-month fixed-term contract position as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow who will work on the above project funded by the National Children’s Research Centre (NCRC). The study aims to develop and test a novel, biodegradable, off-the-shelf stented valve device for minimally-invasive transcatheter applications that promotes tissue regeneration resulting in a living, tissue-engineered valve amenable to growth in infant patients. The post-holder should have knowledge of biomedical device design and expertise in mammalian cell culture. See job description for more details. Salary: 35,488 per annum.
