We are looking for a Structural Engineering Manager to start up our new engineering department. This position will engineer structures and foundations for substation and transmission line projects. Project locations will vary throughout the country, but all engineering activities will be based in Nebraska.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform structural engineering design for substation and transmission line steel structures.
Prepare and review design calculations of structures
Prepare steel connection information for Detailing team
Manage a team of engineers by managing workflow and checking accuracy of calculations
Analyze failures in order to determine cause and extent of failures
Review contract documents including technical specifications and drawings
Maintain technical and professional knowledge through continuing education, remaining current with relevant professional publications, establishing professional networks and participating in professional societies.
Assist in the training and development of other staff members
Work closely with Detailing Department on shop drawing creation
EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with Emphasis in Structural Engineering
7+ years’ experience in Structural Engineering
Previous experience using PLS Pole (desirable)
Management experience (desirable)
Current Professional Engineer (PE) license (multiple states)
Must have previous transmission and distribution industries experience
