We are seeking a Construction Engineer (Civil) to join our team. The Qualified candidate must be a dynamic & resourceful individual who has direct hands-on experience in construction engineering (civil).
As a Civil Engineer for Construction, the successful candidate will manage and administer major construction projects for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.
Manages and administers Capital Construction Program (CCP) projects and large projects funded by the Capital, Operating and Maintenance Investment Program (COMIP) throughout the Airports Authority including projects at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), the Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH), and the Dulles Toll Road (DTR). Performs special studies and projects to establish and improve construction scheduling, quality assurance, cost control, progress reporting, and safety.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (MQs)
To be rated qualified for this job, an applicant must meet all of the MQs listed below at the time of vacancy announcement closure.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that totals four years.
Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience managing and coordinating civil and structural engineering and construction projects including:
managing large civil engineering and construction projects;
planning, organizing, and monitoring quality control and ensuring work meets contract specifications, industry standards, and project design intent; and
making recommendations on all aspects of construction management.
Note: A fully equivalent combination of education and training beyond what is needed to satisfy the education requirement may be used to substitute for up to two of the seven years of experience. For example, a master’s degree may substitute for two years of experience.
3. Licensure as a Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia within 180 days from the date of the Final Offer Letter.
4. Must have a state driver’s license in good standing.
The qualifications listed below (if any) are preferred and may be considered in the selection process, but they are not required to be rated qualified for this job.
Experience managing major engineering projects and contracts in the public sector.
Experience managing construction at an active airport environment.
Certification as a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) from the Construction Manager Certification Institute, or an equivalent certification.
Certification in, and experience implementing, the US Army Corps of Engineers Contractor Quality Control methodology and procedures
