Three Positions: Structural, Transportation, and Water Resources Engineering
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites applications for three tenure-track faculty positions, preferably at the level of Assistant Professor, in the areas of: (1) Structural Engineering/Concrete Materials; (2) Transportation Engineering/Systems; and (3) Water Resources Engineering. Applications for a visiting position at all ranks may also be considered.
The successful candidate must hold a Doctoral Degree in Civil Engineering or related field and must demonstrate potential for quality research and teaching. The candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, as part of the Civil and Environmental Engineering curricula, and must demonstrate strong research potential that will lead to external funding and scholarly publications. The candidate will have the opportunity to interact with faculty in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department and across the AUB campus.
The structures faculty candidate is expected to teach structural design courses, with research interests to encompass experimental work on design and behavior of reinforced concrete structures/materials, innovative/sustainable materials with applications to structural engineering, and infrastructure systems and materials.
The transportation faculty candidate is expected to teach highway and transportation engineering courses, with research interests to encompass traffic engineering, intelligent transportation systems and transformational technologies, mathematical modeling and operations research applications in transportation, sustainability and resilience of multimodal transportation systems, and/or transportation infrastructure management.
The water resources faculty candidate is expected to teach fluid mechanics/hydraulics and hydrology courses, with research interests to encompass theoretical aspects of water flow and transport, experimental hydraulics and instrumentation, or integrative data analysis.
