Thorough knowledge of traffic management concepts, data communications and computerized traffic signal system equipment; thorough knowledge of signal operations and maintenance work flow, priorities, policies, and procedures; working knowledge of signal optimization software packages, AUTOCAD and PC-based programs to include Microsoft Office, GIS, etc.; knowledge of the National Electric Code, National Electric Safety Code, NCDOT Traffic Signal Specifications, NCDOT Signal & Geometrics Design Manual, NCDOT Maintenance Schedules C & D, MUTCD and other related traffic signal standards; excellent oral and written communication skills; outstanding planning and organizational skills; ability to work with other engineers and maintenance technicians performing traffic signal work; ability to utilize electronic maintenance tools; ability to schedule work in an efficient manner; ability to coordinate work with City Departments and other outside agencies; ability to quickly learn City ordinances relating to traffic signals, traffic operations and lighting.
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major in Civil Engineering or related field and at least three years of progressive signal system engineering/traffic engineering experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Professional Engineer certification and management experience preferred.
Additional Salary Information: Negotiable, commensurate with education and experience.
