The County of El Dorado is conducting this recruitment to fill one (1) full-time vacancy for the Planning and Building Department located in Placerville. It will also establish a list, for up to three months, which may be used to fill future full-time, part-time and extra-help vacancies.
DEFINITION Under direction, plans, coordinates, supervises and evaluates the work of professional, technical, and office support staff performing engineering work in the areas of project management and construction; performs highly complex engineering work.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is the first supervisory class in the professional civil engineering series, responsible for directing a major program or a specified engineering section. This class is distinguished from Supervising Civil Engineering, in that the latter has overall management responsibility for a section of the Engineering Division.

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in civil engineering; AND two years of lead or project management experience in public works design and construction engineering work at a level equivalent to the County's Associate Civil Engineer.
Must possess a valid driver's license. Must possess a valid California Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer or obtain licensure in California by comity (reciprocity) within the one-year probationary period.
