College/Department of Civil Engineering invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Civil Engineering at the Assistant Professor level to start August 2018. Minimum Qualifications: The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is an earned doctorate in civil engineering (or a related field). Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the doctorate must be complete prior to August 2018. Specific expertise is required in the field of structural engineering. Expertise/interest and ability to teach a variety of courses in the department is also required.
Preferred Qualifications: The following are preferred qualifications: Candidates have ability and interest in pursuing externally funded research and/or professional activity (demonstrated through previous accomplishments and/or publications). Candidates have demonstrated their ability as an effective teacher. Candidates have a bachelor of science in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program, professional registration in Civil Engineering (any state) or the ability to obtain professional registration within a few years.
Responsibilities: This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service. Responsibilities include instruction in a variety of civil engineering courses, achievement in funded research or other funded professional activity, academic and extra-curricular advising of undergraduate students, and service to the university and community. Excellence in teaching, participation in funded research or other professional activity, and service to the university/community are all requirements for tenure. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.
