If so, we encourage you to apply for the Development Supervisor II position in the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT).
The Development Supervisor II will be responsible for leading the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of specific programs and activities, planning staff work schedules, monitoring review turnaround performance, mentoring staff for performance, and evaluating the performance of the unit. Responsibilities are moderately broad in scope and moderate discretion is needed in carrying out the mission and goals of the organizational unit. In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of the workgroup, the supervisor is also responsible for PBOT's role in the development of the Portland Online Permitting System (POPS). This work requires independent judgment and knowledge of City Codes, PBOT standard drawings and policies.
A successful candidate will possess the following skills:
Customer Service: Uses tact, discretion, and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive situations while collaborating closely with other bureau workgroups and inter-bureau partners including BDS, BES, Water, Parks, and Fire. Leadership: Motivating and efficient. Shows creativity in leadership while overseeing and evaluating the work of their team. Develops and applies procedures to achieve annual goals, objectives, and work standards. Decision Making: Uses sound judgment to make timely, informed decisions that take into fact the goals, constraints, facts and risks.
