The Project Manager – Transportation is responsible for overseeing the planning of high visibility, multi-modal projects and advancing them to “shovel ready” status. In some cases, the Project Manager will be asked to manage projects through all phases of development. This position is responsible for all aspects of the strategic management of transportation projects, including planning, tracking and reporting progress, budgets and funding, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge of the fundamentals of transportation planning with a particular focus on bicycle and pedestrian facilities. The position reports to the Director of Transportation & Sustainability.
Essential duties and responsibilities for this position include:
Manage and/or co-manage the conceptual design and planning phase of large-scale multi-modal projects
Manage scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables for consultant contracts
Manage, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, the public, and elected officials on highly visible, controversial, and complex projects
Direct planning meetings to determine objectives, program plans, and project scopes
Coordinate consultant selection process; prepare, negotiate, and administer, consultant agreements
Identify and pursue funding opportunities
Review traffic studies, concepts, design plans, and construction documents.
Develop and implement community and stakeholder engagement plans
Successfully navigate the City’s complex procurement, permitting, and legislative approval process

Possession of a master’s degree in one of the fields listed above
Prior experience planning and implementing infrastructure projects for a public agency or district
Project oversight of capital projects
Design and plan reviews
Community engagement/relationship building
