The Institute for Building Technology and Safety (IBTS) is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that was established to provide unbiased professional building code compliance services, while enhancing the communities in which we work. The Quality Auditor is responsible for completing quality audit and regulatory and standards compliance monitoring in a factory-built housing manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for measuring the effectiveness and adequacy of third-party oversight of quality assurance programs and determining construction compliance with codes and standards.
This position requires extensive travel (about 90% of the time) to conduct field-based audit activities nationwide.
The Quality Auditor primarily receives direction from the Manager of Quality Audits and other Manufactured Home contract managers. The Quality Auditor may, from time-to-time, be asked to take a lead role in providing other services critical to the performance of IBTS contractual obligations such as inspections, research, or similar technical services relevant to the project engineer's education, background, and experience.
Performs audits, conducts periodic reviews, and writes performance evaluation reports of public and private organizations (third parties) providing quality assurance program oversight, regulatory compliance monitoring, and construction code compliance inspections duties.
Use the approved designs, quality assurance manuals, storage, testing protocols, product manufacturer installations procedures, compliance with tested assemblies, and quality inspection procedures to evaluate manufacturer ability to produce compliant homes
Application of the codes, standards, and workman ship to evaluate compliance of the homes
Conduct inspections at field and identify root cause analysis for all compliance issues, develop recommendations for improving quality assurance programs
Analyses field data, tracks trends, and conduct third party office audit to review adequacy of procedures, staffing, quality reviews, and training program to meet the compliance with the Federal regulations
Identify any non-compliances in the approved designs and any weaknesses in the quality assurance programs/procedures.
Resolves disagreements with the manufacturers and third party agencies in an amicable manner
Manages and prepares reports on the state of compliance including analysis and synthesis of audit data.
Makes recommendations on corrective and preventive actions and helps devise possible solutions for ensuring compliance.
Captures, follow-ups and reports on outstanding corrective action activities.
Provides peer review of completed audit reports.
Assists in developing and maintaining processes, procedures, and work instructions for audit staff.
REQUIRED/PREFERRED LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION CREDENTIALS
ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) – Required
ICC certifications for all residential trades (Building, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) – Preferred
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of related technical work experience.
Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Technically strong and thorough.
Flexible to manage the varying and unexpected day-to-day workload.
Excellent time management capabilities.
Ability to travel within the contiguous states (up to 90% travel time)
Competency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to work as a team player and to work with all levels of staff within an organization.
Ability to carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision and to successfully complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Minimum of two years of quality auditing or management experience including regulatory compliance determinations .
Exposure to quality auditing in a government contracting environment and ISO standards auditing experience are preferred.
Associate's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or an Engineering-related field.
